Corian is manufactured at DuPont factories in the form of sheets. These sheets will eventually be formed into countertops, lighting designs, or even furniture. In addition to the sheets, Corian manufactures sinks in a variety of shapes and sizes and several ready-to-install products, such as one piece vanity tops and bowls, and shower and tub surrounds. The Corian products are shipped to a world-wide network of distributors who work with local retailers to offer support and services in the selection, ordering, fabrication and installation of the Corian products.

- How do I care for my Corian?
Corian is easy to care for. Soapy water or an ammonia-based cleaner is all that is necessary for day to day care of your Corian. Minor scratches, burns or discoloration are also easy to repair. Major damage should be repaired by a Certified Fabricator/Installer of DuPont Corian. Contact an Authorized Retailer of Corian for assistance. |
We do not recommend placing a hot pot directly on Corian. Although Corian remains stable and undamaged in temperatures up to 212ºF (100ºC), high heat or flame will damage Corian. In most cases this can be repaired. To protect your Corian from heat damage, always use a hot pad or a trivet with rubber feet when using hot pots or heat-generating appliances like frying pans or electric cooking pots.

- Can I use 6mm Corian on horizontal surfaces and what is the mazimum overhang?
We do not recommend 6 mm Corian sheets for horizontal surfaces. Both 13 mm and 19 mm Corian sheets are recommended due to the impacts and other abuses associated with horizontal surfaces. 6 mm Corian sheets are engineered for vertical applications and have been used very effectively in applications such as wall cladding, hospital operating room walls, panels and wainscoting.
The maximum overhang for Corian depends on the weight that will be placed on the overhang, but a good rule of thumb is 152 mm for 13 mm Corian sheet and 304 mm for 19 mm Corian sheet. Your distributor or fabricator can help you specify an appropriate overhang

You can drill into Corian and fasten it with various types of screws, wooden plugs or dowels, or plastic or lead anchors.
